|Kind at heart, disciplined-attitude but yet completely in love with life and music, that’s TK ma’am for all of us. TK ma’am hosts the signature show of the station: Shakti, and her personality compliments it, as every aspect in Shakti we try to present through the show is a part of her personality. Mrs. Tajinder Kaur, the Pro-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University and the Vice-Chairman of Desh Bhagat Group heads all decision on finance and strategy but her dedication to philanthropic interests can inspire anyone. Born in a family of highly successful businessmen settled at Nakuru, Kenya, she moved to India in 1983 after her marriage to Dr. Zora Singh to settle with him in his hometown, Muktsar. When her husband ventured into the field of education with the Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College Hospital at Mandi Gobindgarh in 1996, she supported him enthusiastically. The support continued over the years, so it was natural for her to back the youngest project the “Desh Bhagat Radio...Aap Ki Aawaz” when it happened in October 2012. Since, she has been taking keen interest in the programmes broadcast over the Community Radio Station and is the brain behind our most popular program “Shakti – The Power Of A Woman” aimed at empowering women.|
This show involves interaction with womens who have made notable achievements in their respective fields.
The show is full of motivation for other womens to achieve success in their lives.
Besides the educational interests, TK ma’am does a lot of philanthropic work as well. As Chief Executive Officer of NGO “Hara Punjab Khara Samaj”, she has made tremendous contribution in spreading awareness about protection and preservation of environment by distributing saplings of medicinal plants to the people at their doorstep, free of cost. So far, the NGO has distributed more than 60,000 saplings and the aim is to distribute at least 1,00,000 saplings. Also, she has launched a crusade against social evils like dowry, drug abuse, female foeticide, child labour and domestic violence against women.
In recognition of the role of NGO “Hara Punjab Khara Samaj” in spreading greenery, the Dainik Bhaskar Group of Newspapers honoured her with “Green Idol” Award in October 2012.
Mrs. Tajinder Kaur was also figured as Leading Personalities of “Peace City” i.e. Chandigarh in Volume 2 of book titled “Chandigarh and its Leading Personalities - Vol. 2” brought out by “United Newspapers”, Chandigarh, in January 2012.
